Batteries Plus Bulbs, the nation's first, largest and fastest growing battery and light bulb franchise of its kind, is currently seeking a Director of Services.

DescriptionDevelop and operationalize current and new Service offerings to Company and Franchise stores. Drive new Services strategic and tactical business initiatives, assess new markets and analyze future Services business opportunities to deliver profitable financial results and unparalleled customer service. Full P&L responsibility for delivering service plans and budgets.

Duties Include: 

Program Development:

  • Develop business and financial models and tools to assess costs, revenue and margin, and strategic implications of potential initiatives and other activities that will drive growth.
  • Create appropriate models and tools that will help the company to determine the best path to future Services business and growth. Develop insights from all business areas based on data. Analyze issues, develop pilots to address issues, gain buy-in from senior management, franchisees, field personnel, and provide leadership to implement pilots.
  • Ensure programs and initiatives are externally customer focused, with the business strategy built around documented needs and desires
  • Build a pipeline of Services business initiatives that will maximize the Company's business and financial growth strategies.
  • Understand the evolving marketplace, market influencers and the competition. Make certain that services strategies are creative, forward looking and effective in dealing with these influencers.
  • Benchmark and identify best practices of companies in any industry that have a strong Services business portfolio. Incorporate results into a comprehensive model for researching new opportunities.

Program Execution:

  • Analyze current Services business portfolio and create plans to prioritize portfolio components to maximize profit. Manage expenses.
  • Ensure that the Services business strategy is fully integrated with the company's strategic business and financial objectives and that resources and management support are available to accomplish them.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and make sure that pricing strategies are well developed and profit driven.
  • Make frequent store visits in order to collaborate with Field Management to gather field perspectives, feedback and ideas.
  • Create mechanisms for Franchisees, DMs, Store Managers and Associates to position themselves for success. Take a holistic approach in reviewing the field business model and structure to surface root causes of ongoing issues.  Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with the Marketing teams to create messaging, promotions, programs, etc. to drive execution.
  • Serve as a visible presence and continuous influence for strategic change and operational excellence across the Services business. Champion a consistent case for continuous process improvement and change resulting in ongoing benefits for the Company.

Leadership:

  • Provide vision, leadership, direction and training to direct reports, franchisees and franchise associates that inspires and encourages cooperation.
  • Interacts regularly with executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company's Services priorities are aligned with total company direction. 
  • Create a positive team culture of execution through clear goals, expectations, ethics, methods, measurements and validation to achieve desired results
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, targets, and goals. Ensure teams have appropriate information and resources needed to be accountable for results.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field; MBA strongly desired
  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible experience delivering business and financial results for a services business with a proven record of leadership in establishing, directing and growing a business; must include retail management experience.
  • Must be able to read financial statements and apply analytical and problem solving abilities. Superior financial acumen specific to profit & loss statements and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of business principles and approaches that have proven successful required. Must be able to translate unrefined concepts into a solid business plan and operationalize the business plan into an acceptable services offering.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
  • Must be willing to overnight travel 50% peak at times by vehicle and plane. Must be able to rent a vehicle.
