Batteries Plus Bulbs is looking for a creative individual to join our Marketing team in Hartland, WI.  The Marketing Communications Specialist will author a broad range of high-quality and compelling content that will increase overall awareness of our brand and encourage interaction.  This position reports to the Marketing Manager and will manage daily vendor relationships/activities and help coordinate execution of various projects that support various lines of business.  If you love gaining the attention of your target audience, have a passion to be creative, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with the ability to manage multiple projects we want to hear from you!

 

Essential Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):

Communications

  • Author original clear and compelling content for use across various marketing platforms to develop brand awareness, reach and attain new customers, stimulate user interaction, discussion and engagement, and drive traffic
  • Responsible for conception, writing and publishing of all new content ensuring consistency in voice
  • Create content strategies and recommendations based on in-market trends and campaign performance
  • Respond and react to changes within on-line trends, functionality and methods of engagement
  • Keep up-to-date with best practices in writing for the web, print and business/industry trends
  • Proofread and edit communications to ensure information accuracy
  • Develop & document procedures to manage content
  • Responsible to publish within Company standards all communication shared internally & externally

Vendors

  • Manage daily vendor relationships/activities and serve as key resource/contact, and evaluate practices/procedures
  • Monitor agreement accountability with preferred vendor partners to ensure quality services/products at competitive prices
  • Monitor Vendor online portals to ensure information is accurate and current

Business Line Support

  • Support lines of business by coordinating the execution of marketing projects and working with cross functional teams in development, coordination, and implementation of consistent, cost effective project
  • Lead the support, maintenance, training, and administration of the intranet
  • Compile, analyze and report on research data as requested by business lines
  • Monitor, research, track and report on competitors to report to management
  • Track, purchase and renew web domains
  • Prepare for convention and meetings and present materials when necessary

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, and Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent, relevant experience required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience writing on behalf of brands. Previous retail and/or marketing experience desirable
  • Proficiency to write compelling, impactful customer-centric content in order to drive visits, customer loyalty and profits. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills a must. Technical writing experience preferred
  • Strong personal portfolio of creative writing that demonstrates originality, innovation, problem-solving, and personal expression
  • Ability to organize multiple layers of copy and maintain consistency in voice, brand and site architecture
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Capable of adapting learning to incorporate new technology  
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable as marketing strategies change; able to pick up and learn new skills quickly. Aptitude for both the technical and the creative aspects of the business desirable
  • Ability to think critically, express ideas/information clearly, and analyze data
