Batteries Plus Bulbs is hiring a Vice President of Supply Chain and Logistics out of our Hartland location. Our VP of Supply Chain and Logistics will manage the infrastructure for functional areas of Batteries Plus/Ascent Battery Supply Chain including vendor management, inventory planning, warehousing, distribution, and transportation to achieve financial and non-financial goals as well as oversee the Ascent Screen Repair (ASR) and Support Services business units.

 

Line of Business Management

  • Plan and monitor transportation and distribution budgets while implementing and driving key metrics that focus on continuous improvement. Develop strategies to improve and optimize freight spend and service. Allocate and manage staff resources according to annual budget and changing needs
  • Coordinate with finance and accounting to ensure accurate inventory reporting and cost tracking, including projected inventory purchases and carrying costs.
  • Optimize overall supply chain, logistics and transportation costs.
  • Develop and monitor Ascent processes, policies and procedures to improve business functionality, reduce costs and ensure positive future outcomes. Drive to change and improve processes not leading to business goal attainment
  • Develop, maintain and implement policies and procedures that limit company risk in all operations areas
  • Maintain quality vendor partner relationships to secure the highest quality service at the best cost. Monitor service and efficiency of relationships; oversee contract negotiations.

Logistics & Transportation

  • Assure supply chain synchronization by conceiving and optimizing the strategy pertaining to inbound movement of product from international ports of departure. Monitor the cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through workload coordination and prioritization of support resources which plan and schedule the appropriate modes of transportation based on client shipping needs. Manage key internal and client-facing metrics and define strategies for continuous improvement
  • Organize and manage operations of physical flows of products including transportation, stock control, warehousing while ensuring structures are in place to monitor the flow of goods and materials.
  • Coordinate and control the order cycle and associated information systems.
  • Ensure shipping fulfillment and operations adhere to above industry standards for an order on time and complete.
  • Monitor legislative activities. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current regulations and trends, threats and opportunities affecting logistics related activities. Ensure all regulations are followed.
  • Analyze logistical problems and produce new solutions. Identify and implement changes to operations, documents, agreements, etc. to facilitate continuous improvement and adherence to legal requirements.

Other Functional Oversight

  • Manage recycling programs for all categories and stores as well as new and existing legislative compliance activity.
  • Ensure acceptable levels of internal and external customer support and service through management of Product Support, Order Management and National Accounts business channels.
  • Oversee the Ascent Screen Repair operation. Maintain the cost and quality efficiency of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes required to manufacture a high quality screen assembly product in a repeatable and cost effective manner.
  • Interact with franchisees and franchise candidates in relation to operational and inventory concerns. Support customer responsiveness goals.
  • Participate in and drive risk management programs throughout the organization. Serve on the Executive Safety Committee.

People Management

  • Leverage department talent, effectively improve team and interdepartmental dynamics; ensure communication within departments and organization. Assure that all personnel'internal and external is performing job duties in compliance with approved policies and standards.
  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate responsibilities and work assignments to help achieve goals in an efficient manner
  • Provide leadership and coaching, and training and development opportunities to support associates' continued development and enrichment
  • Perform evaluations and periodic reviews. Build and maintain a team atmosphere.
  • Handle difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual
  • Provide leadership and motivation the department and throughout the company

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of department management experience, directly in transportation, warehousing, inventory planning, customer service, manufacturing, and vendor management. Strong expertise in analysis of P&L's. Excellent understanding of IT systems used in distribution and logistics operations.
  • Strong leadership ability with extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Must be effective at developing strong relationships and influencing others develop and follow-up on plans, resolve conflicts effectively and achieve desired results.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to assess situations using financial and quantitative analysis and make recommendations and/or decisions to meet business needs. Ability to analyze projected markets, business and environmental and economic trends and address their impact on the short and long term growth of the business.
  • Process oriented with good project management skills; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Strongly motivated with sense of urgency
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate concrete and abstract ideas effectively using both oral and written means. Proven ability to make presentations to senior management, groups of employees, or customers.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. Must employ broad conceptual judgment, initiative and the ability to deal with complex factors and make decisions based on conclusions for which there is little precedent.
  • International/overnight travel 4-6 times/year. Valid passport required
